Benefits of Waterjet and Laser Cutting
Dynamic Waterjet Cutting
Virtually eliminating edge taper concerns, the dynamic waterjet cutting process is the most advanced in the business. The squareness of edges is automatically adjusted and maintained to enable faster production of parts, even when cutting at high speeds.
Conventional Waterjet Cutting
Material of any shape – thick or thin, hard or soft, large or small, simple or complex – can be cut using ultra-high pressure water and garnet. This waterjet cutting technique does not add heat or stress and does not distort edges.
Laser Cutting
The most economical of the three, laser cutting minimizes costs but never compromises on quality. Using sophisticated layout software and an automated shuttle table, precise programs are developed from customer-supplied media to ensure accuracy.
Benefits of Waterjet Cutting
- Clean edges
- Fast turn-around
- Quick set-ups
- Sheets can be stacked
- No tooling required
- Uneven material doesn’t normally pose a problem
- Can cut up to 10” thick material
- No thermal or heat effect from cutting
- Can cut a wide variety of materials
- No pre-process is required (piercing)
- Large parts capacity
- No tool wear
- Constant cut width
- Material hardness is normally not an issue
Benefits of Laser Cutting
- Faster cut times
- Less heat effect vs. plasma and flame cutting
- Good edge quality (Nitrogen cutting)
- Low load time due to shuttle table
- No tool wear
- Quick set-ups
- No tooling normally required
- Stainless ¼” thick, Aluminum ¼” thick and mild steel ½” thick
